The Kingdom You Can’t Stop
by Jacob Hudgins
“He lived there two whole years…proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness and without hindrance”(Acts 28:30, 31).
In the book of Acts, Satan takes his best shot to derail God’s work and fails.
The story of Noah is an intriguing one to study, because it is very applicable in our society. He is faithful to God—when no one else is. He is obedient to God and does not question the way the ark is meant to be built, or how long he is supposed to stay on the ark. He and his family are saved from destruction for their faith. So how can we be like Noah in today’s world?
“What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes”(James 4:14).
Our society thrives on the feeling of control. We want to be able to customize our lives to our exact specifications—preferably with an app. The fact that I can monitor my house temperature, financial situation, physical health, and social interactions from one device makes me feel more powerful than I really am. James warns us that control is an illusion that can lead to spiritual dangers.
“Have I then become your enemy by telling you the truth?”(Gal 4:16).
It has become common in popular discourse to accuse others of being hateful. If you are on the other side of an issue from me, you are a bigot, misogynist, or hatemonger. Yet just because we disagree doesn’t mean I hate you.
